Tern was founded in 2004 with a passion for wooden boats. Since then we’ve continued to hone our skills and become more and more devoted to perfecting our craft, and we feel privileged to practice these skills every day on our many unique wooden boat projects.
Fabrication of advanced composite boats and marine components
At Tern, we are always looking for the latest technologies to make sure the highest quality work is sent out of our doors. Refining our composite skills has meant advancing from hand lay ups to vacuum bag infusions and working with a wide range of materials.
Our Mooring to Mooring services make boating easy
Tern offers mooring to mooring on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. We will pick up your boat, winterize, and store it before returning it to your mooring, ready for you to enjoy at the start of the season.
Any and all maintenance
Boats need yearly maintenance. In addition to new builds and refits, we can meet all your boat’s maintenance needs. We have years of experience in rigging, painting, varnish work, re-wiring electrical system, and mechanical systems. Some of our newest refits have involved electric drive propulsion, including the recent installation aboard Orcadia where we replaced the diesel engine with a full electric drive system.
