Lunenburg Schooner
Dawson Moreland and Associates laid the keels for two vessels in the fall of 2009. These 48-foot Lunenburg Schooners were to be built side-by-side under the direction of David Westergard alongside the community’s historic Dory Shop. In 2012, The first vessel was completed and launched.
The construction of the second of the two schooners stalled after the hull, deck and cabin trunks had been finished and the project shelved. The vessel was then placed under a roofed structure to preserve the completed work and left until a plan to finish presented itself.
In 2023 the second schooner was sold as is and moved to Tern Boatworks for completion. To meet the new owners desired use of the vessel, Tern will be designing and building a new sailing rig and deck lay out, designing and building a functional interior with modern electrical and plumbing considerations, building a new rudder to allow a centre line engine and shaft installation, and moving internal ballast outboard.
