Tari Ann

Tari-Ann is a custom built 48' motorsailer ketch, designed by Laurie McGowan of McGowan Marine Design and conceptualized by owner Tom Goodwin.

The boat was inspired by the Chesapeake Bay buy boats, some of which made their way to the Bahamas for cargo transport. She features a high stem, prominent sheer, a wheelhouse, shallow draught and a vee bottom, as well as an efficient hull shape. The ketch rig is for simple motorsailing, with the intent to use the jib and mizzen all the time, and to set the mainsail on long reaches. Tari-Ann has timeless feel, which moves the boat out of the "fashionable" category into a more classic one. Tari-Ann is a cold molded composite hull using modern construction methods with classic styling. We wanted to capture the characteristics of the Chesapeake Bay buy boats to preserve that historical style while encompassing modern features. Tari-Ann features all custom hardware and wood working.
